We had a great group of hikers and photographers embark on many hikes in the good weather of the two weeks. We took three trips by foot originating from the Bentley campus. We walked to and around the Lafayette Reservoir, hiked to and along the Lafayette Rim Trail, and walked in the neighborhood of the school to a nearby peak. Thanks to generous pairs of parent volunteers, we took four trips with the school van, mini-vans, and cars. We scaled the complete ridge at Shell Ridge in Walnut Creek. On two trips to Briones we entered at Bear Creek but took two very different trails. We went to Tilden overlooking the Bay. While outdoors we took pictures of people, animals, objects, landscapes, and other parts of the natural world. If you ask the students about the trip, they'll probably tell you about mud and cows. At the end of the course each student made a photo book that was purchased by the school. Throughout the course, students helped each other with camera operation and photo editing. On the last day, students made presentations on the natural world, geology, and history of the local area. I had a great time myself and was blessed with a group of students who rose up to the challenges of slippery trails and finicky websites.
